COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A.I.S. - ACTIVE ISOLATED STRETCHING (24 CEUs NCBTMB) Approved by NCBTMB & the State of GA

Active Isolated Stretching: The Mattes Method centers on the physiological principles of specific muscle lengthening, increased circulation and oxygen to the tissues, lengthening of the superficial and deep fascia.

The seminar involves exact details of how to safely lengthen muscles and fascia simultaneously maintaining a physiologically based agonist-antagonist relationship.

Toe seminar is 15% lectures, 85% hands-on work. Detailed approaches to each muscle surrounding a joint, various indications and contraindications related to diseases, injuries, joint replacements, osteoporosis, neuropathy and other factors.

These conditions include Thoracic outlet, frozen shoulders, Kyphosis, Lordosis, rotator cuff, tennis and golfer's elbow, neck, wrist, hand and finger problems. It will also include other conditions, such as hip/back problems, knees, feet, ankles and toes. Various sports medicine considerations will be discussed and demonstrated during the seminar. The Mattes Method (AIS) is incorporated into a 3 day Seminar.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
•John Howard received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwest Missouri State University, 1985, majoring in Industrial Technology. In 1984, John became a certified personal trainer & sport nutritionist, IFPA. In the interim, John served as an EMT in the greater Atlanta, GA in 1994 before joining the volunteer Firefighters for the city of Alpharetta, GA. Listening to his calling to help people, John attended the Atlanta School of Massage, Rising Spirits and graduated at the top of class in 2001. Since 2003, John has spent well over 1000+ hours of continuing education which includes an apprenticeship and hands-on clinical training with Aaron Mattes, The Developer of AIS, Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening, on a quarterly basis in Sarasota, Fl. John also has experience on specified modalities such as Orthopedic Massage, Pre and Post Sports Massage, Rehabilitation, Fascial Release, Structural Integration, Cranial Sacral, Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, Reflexology, Deep Muscle Therapy, Assessments, Muscle Testing, Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, Lymphatic Techniques, Sports and Health Instruction, Athletic Training, Physical Education, Sports Medicine, Personal Training, Nutrition and Prevention Programs.

•John is a Licensed Georgia Massage Therapist (# MT002148), a Licensed Flordia Massage Therapist (#MA40166), a Professional Member of the American Massage Therapy Association (#133642), Board Certified Provider for the Nationally Certified Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworks NCBTMB ( #451030-09), Nationally Certified for the Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworks NCBTMB (312309-00), NASM Certified Personal Trainer (#229068), NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (#1331119), Preferred Practitioner, OrthoMassage.net and a Preferred Practitioner, StretchingUSA.com.

•John teaches at schools of massage, sports and gym clubs and medical seminars. He is also a board certified provider offering continuing education to personal trainers, strength trainers, athletic trainers, and massage therapists.
