COURSE DESCRIPTION:
6 Lecture Hours/26 Hands On Hours


Learn to safely and effectively address the many injuries and dysfunctions of the anterior cervical region and the TMJ. Students will review the anatomy and physiology of the anterior neck and TMJ, gain an understanding of the disc condyle complex, indications and assessment, and learn treatment protocols to address superficial and deep muscles of the anterior neck, and the muscles of mastication. The majority of the class time is devoted to hands on work, giving each student the supervised practice to confidently apply new techniques the very next day. The skill gained throughout the course will be put into practice on members of the public in a supervised clinic setting on the final day of the course. Upon completion, the student will have an expanded understanding of the dysfunction of the TMJ and anterior neck and be well versed in the current neuromuscular therapy protocols to treat the head and neck.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Mr. Fred E Davis, NMT has been certified in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy since 1989. He has taught Neuromuscular Massage Therapy at The Academy for Somatic Healing Arts in Norcross, GA from 1992 until the school closed in 2013. From 1999 until 2002 he served as the Neuromuscular Therapy Department Head. During the course of his career he has developed and instructed 22 TMJ intensive seminars for Neuromuscular Massage Therapists. He has trained 15 full-time lead NMT instructors and over 40 assistant instructors, and contributed research for the development of The Workbook of Classical Neuromuscular Therapy, First Edition Published by ASHA Publishing.
